About Bear Money Slot Game
Bear Money is a 5 reel, 10 paylines online slots game by Inspired Gaming. Bear Money has Bonus Symbols and Respins features, and an RTP of 96.5%. Your best option for playing Bear Money is here with us on the casinos we listed above, where it’s one of over 500 great online slots including Fluffy Favourites, Starburst, Rainbow Riches and Great Rhino.
There’s a little playful use of language going on in the title of this slot by Inspired Gaming. ‘Beer money’ is a small amount of cash that many of us put to one side for when we want to go out on the town of an evening or weekend – and also what a lot of us are trying to win when we’re playing online slots! As per the difference in spelling with the first word, though, you won’t find any beer here. Instead, you’ll find the type of bears that Goldilocks once stole porridge from.
A playful name makes for a playful theme, and so everything about this slot is bright and cheery. It isn’t especially complicated or sophisticated, but it doesn’t set out to be. What it does offer is an opportunity to make good winnings, and a bonus feature which can make a huge material difference to your game if your luck is in. The design idea that Inspired have gone with is taken from the old song ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic.’ If you’ve never heard it, look it up on YouTube – but don’t blame us if it gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day!
Staying true to that theme, the background of Bear Money is a clearing in an area of woodland – the perfect place for a picnic. The wooden-framed reels are a five-by-three arrangement containing ten fixed pay-lines. Ten is a low number for 2019, but that isn’t a reason to give this slot a miss; the number of paylines isn’t important so long as wins turn up frequently enough, which they do. The one thing that we don’t get to see very much – in the base game, at least – is bears. None of the symbols are bears, and there are no bears in the background. Perhaps it would have been a better idea to call this slot ‘Picnic Money,’ but then it doesn’t have the same kind of ring to it!
Instead of bears, on the reels we have playing cards J up to an as low values, and then we move on to items of food. It might not be a great idea to play this slot if you haven’t eaten recently – it’s likely to make you somewhat peckish. In order, the more valuable symbols are a sandwich, a pie, jam on toast, some fruit juice, and a big solid block of cheese (who would take cheese in a picnic hamper? It would stink!). The Bear Money logo is the most valuable of all the symbols in the base game, along with a picnic basket which we’ll be talking about again when we discuss the Bear Money bonus features.
Unusually for a slot that was released in 2019 and isn’t aimed at the traditional market, Bear Money doesn’t have a wild symbol or a scatter symbol. It does come with a bonus symbol though, and that’s the jar of honey which you’ll sometimes see putting in an appearance on the fifth and final reel. To explain what it’s doing there, we need to talk about the bonus features.
Bear Money Bonus Features
Inspired Gaming has named the primary bonus feature in Bear Money as ‘Cash Collector,’ but if you’re an experienced online slots player, you’ll recognize it as a re-spins game. Getting access to it is all about making those bonus symbols on the fifth reel work with the picnic basket symbols we mentioned earlier.
Every time a picnic basket symbol turns up on the reels, it will be accompanied by a cash value. That cash value means nothing unless you have a whole six of them at once on the first four reels, and a jar of honey on the fifth reel at the same time. It might take you a while to pull that off, but if you want to unlock the full potential of this slot, you have to stay with it until it happens.
Your reward for landing that precise combination of symbols is five respins. Again, that sounds low, but every one of those spins could be worth big money. All the picnic baskets freeze in place for the duration of the respins, but every other symbol is taken off the reels to be replaced by two new symbols; a blank, and a bear. You can also land additional picnic baskets as the spins progress. If you do, the new baskets will also stick. Each time you land a bear symbol, the combined value of every picnic basket on the screen will be paid out to you. You should expect to see the bear at least two or three times during the respins, so if your picnic baskets are valuable, you’re guaranteed good wins!
Bear Money taps into the same kind of ‘cute’ market that Fluffy Favourites appeals to, and also presents itself with the same air of simplicity. It can be frustrating if you narrowly miss out on triggering the bonus feature multiple times – especially if you have sufficient picnic baskets but no honey jar – but when it happens, your patience should be handsomely rewarded.
About Inspired Gaming
The creation of Bear Money is a sign that Inspired Gaming might be going through a change of direction when it comes to the type of gaming products they offer. Historically they’ve always been closely linked with the Virtual Sports platform they created, and their interest in sports extends right the way through their existing range of online slots. They’ve even signed a licensing agreement with boxing legend Mike Tyson to use his likeness to make and promote products. Since they were acquired by the larger gaming company Hydra, they’ve been releasing a more diverse range of games, including some of their finest work.
If we had to choose just one Inspired Gaming slot as an example of what the company does, we’d probably go with the always-popular Centurion, which has consistently been one of the most popular slots Vegas-Slots has to offer. Bear Money is quirkier than that though, and belongs to the same off-the-wall school of thought which saw Inspired release the eggs-and-warfare inspired Expendables in 2018. The London-based developer, who started trading in 2002, still work hard on their sports range and probably always will do, but if they want to throw us the occasional zany offering as well, they won’t be getting any complaints from us.
